Imirce - The Kerby A. Miller Collection
Irish Emigrant Letters and Memoirs from North America

The Imirce digital collection makes thousands of Irish emigrant letters and memoirs from North America available to scholars of Irish and North American history and members of the public alike. The letters and memoirs have been curated for online publication from the donated collection of Kerby A. Miller (Curator’s Professor Emeritus of History for the University of Missouri and Honorary Professor of History at the University of Galway). The material provides intimate reflections on 250 years of shared history across the Atlantic Ocean. In the authors' own words, the letters and memoirs illuminate a range of perspectives influenced by class, religion, gender and political circumstances.
