Thomas Clinton, Brooklyn, New York, to Patt [Clinton], [Rosmead, Westmeath], Ireland, no date (circa 1898-1900)
Description
After two years with the army "all round the united States", Thomas Clinton writes home to Patt following his safe return from "narrow escapes" in Cuba [the USA won the ten week Cuban war in 1898 with Spain, both countries signing the Treaty of Paris on 10 December 1898]. He gives news of mutual friends from home who are now in New York and wishes them well at home in Rosmead. [The recipient is stonemason Patrick Clinton, as per the 1901 census household returns, possibly a cousin].
