George Doyle Letter
Title
George Doyle, Washington D.C., to his sister Jill, (Dublin?), 4 December 1885
Description
George Doyle explains his delayed response to his sister's letter due to his work (as a dyer) finishing up and thus not being settled. He intends to move to New York or Philadephia again, or failing that return to Manchester. He sends news of Mary's marriage and hopes Jill is studying well at the convent to qualify as a teacher. Doyle relates that he visited the White House and met the President who was "quite a nice gentleman". He mentions that cousin Edwin was teaching school in the Sandwich Islands and gives his regards to those at home.
