Jack Doyle, Ballinalakallen, County Wexford or Wicklow, to his sister, Anastasia Doyle, U.S.A., 20 July 1872
Description
Jack Doyle replies to his sister's letter informing her of the death of their father following a debilitating illness. He was buried in Kilmeshal [Kilmyshall graveyard in Ryland Lower] with their mother, after a funeral 'high mass' attended by eight priests. Doyle banked the £100 pounds his father left to him as a "fortune". [Letter is badly copied or damaged and thus imperfectly transcripted. Location is unknown but from the contents of the letter the family lived in Newtownbarry parish, now Bunclody in Co. Wexford].
