Brown Brothers Letters
Title
William Brown, Belfast, to brother, James Brown [David's son], 73 Chesnut Street, Philadelphia, 6 June 1819
Description
Their father, David, is apprently an alcoholic or senile or both: "Father is keeping the greatest rackets (when he gets a drop) about the leases, .... I think at any time he gets drink, he is rather worse than when you were here, as you would think he is nearly wrong in the head, you must not take any notice in your letters of this". [Kerby Miller identifies the recipient of this letter as 'James Brown #2' in a note that reads "last in Belfast; son of David; nephew of Samuel & Thomas; and cousin of the James Brown who has been in Philadelphia since 1810"].
