Brown Brothers Letters
Title
George Brown, Belfast, to his brother, James Brown [David's son], 73 Chesnut St., Philadelphia, 10 May 1819
Description
It appears that George was also employed by Batt & Thorley. Batt was sending James Brown Cork whiskey and other Irish goods to sell in America. Business in Belfast was bad, especially in the provisions trade. Offers to send James some linens. [Kerby Miller identifies the recipient of this letter as 'James Brown #2' in a note that reads "last in Belfast; son of David; nephew of Samuel & Thomas; and cousin of the James Brown who has been in Philadelphia since 1810". Detailed account of the vagaries of exporting goods from Ireland and Britain to America ].
