[John] Callaghan [Derrynamucky] to his daughter [Nora], [Buffalo, New York], 18 September 1918
Description
John Callaghan writes to his daughter Nora sympathising on Jerry (likely her brother) being conscripted into the Great War in France. He gives news of his farm and the very changeable weather and prays that "the boys" will safely come back from the war in victory for their adopted country (likely the United States). [Note that Kerby Miller had incorrectly titled this letter as from Shawn Callaghan [Buffalo, New York] to his daughter, Gerrynamuchy) but it is actually addressed by John Callaghan from "Derrynamucky", possibly Derrynamucklagh in Co. Kerry, although the family is not in evidence there in 1901/1911 cenus].
