James O'Brien, 806 Parrish St Philadelpia, to his friend, Mrs. Greene, Ballylarkin, Callan, County Kilkenny, 28 October 1879
Description
James O'Brien writes to Mrs Greene [Catherine Greene — as per Cathy Green's letter to her on 1 August 1884] of his safe passage home via Queenstown [Cobh] even as they passed a ship on fire. He gives reports of mutual friends, asks news of recent elections and encloses an £8 cheque — £7 for Maggie and £1 for herself in lieu of her hospitality while he was there.
