John Williamson, Manchester, England, to William Williamson, Watsonville, California, 10 September 1869
Description
Photocopied ms., not transcribed; no notes except the following. Writer is trying once more to communicate with William, although he's still not heard anything directly from him since 1856. John reports that he has 4 sons and 4 daughters living, plus a daughter who died. He's healthy but getting old and grey. Family news: Benjamin still in Leeds, not prospering. Uncle Peebles is senile. Uncle and aunt Davidson are old and failing. Wonders about James's spiritual welfare, although he realizes that "Yankees" are prone to think and act for themselves. Hopes that William will come home for a visit.
