Ferral Letters
Title
John Ferral to James Buchanan, 19 February 1838
Description
Written from Philadelphia to Washington, Ferral asks of Senator Buchanan if he will accept the office of Governor and "will you submit to the treacherous instructions of the peoples' enemies or bid them defiance". If he resists the "corrupt assembledge in Harrisburg" Ferral pledges his support in confidence. He also encloses a letter detailing the local political machinations during a recent Democratic meeting, addressed by newspaper editor / owner, Morton McMichael.
