Anderson-Waters Letters
Title
John Anderson, Cincinnati, to brother, William Anderson, Coagh town, Tamlaght parish, County Tyrone, 4 August 1845
Description
It's unclear when John, George's brother, emigrated to America, but he only came to Cincinnati on 1 April 1845. Ever since, he's been working as a carpenter for 75 cents to $1.25 per day, but he likes his trade and is pleased that he only has to work 10 hours per day. A few weeks earlier, he helped George Anderson, who has a farm on the city's outskirts, with his harvest. Apparently, George got an invitation from their aunt to return home, but John reports that he and especially his US-born children are happy in the US. Their McKee cousins are also in Cincinnati. Asks William to send his and George's birthdates, for they both have forgotten them.
