Lalor Letters
Title
William Lalor, Dunn township, Dane Co., Wisconsin, to his brother, Richard Lalor, Tinakill, Queen' s County, 10 February 1868
Description
Lalor expresses strong radical political sentiments with respect to the US, where we know (from newspaper accounts) that he ran for office on the Greenback Party ticket. Clearly, he has little respect for the "cursed Yankees," and his dreams center on Ireland, where he hopes that the Fenians will succeed and drive not only the British but also the "West British" Catholic bishops, Cullen and Moriarty, out of the island. Would like to visit Ireland but doubts he will ever be able to do so, unless he returns with a "Fenian army."
