Lalor Letters
Title
Maria Dillon O'Brien, Madison, Wisconsin, to her cousin, Richard Lalor, Tinakill, Queen's County, 18 May 1861
Description
It appears that Maria had recently married O' Brien, a businessmen of some kind, who had been married twice before: both his wives and all their 27 children, except one daughter, had died of consumption . Maria and O'Brien have two children of their own. Her mother died recently, and her elderly father lived with William Lalor, who had been very sick recently. She claims that Joseph Fox (William Lalor's brother in-law) and most of his children were Protestant bigots; she wrote that they were Episcopalians, but a later letter indicated they were Presbyterians.
