Gunning Letters
Title
Thomas Gunning, New York City, to Major Charles O'Hara, Collooney, County Sligo, 20 February 1834
Description
Not as long or as good as Gunning's two previous letters, but he refers to President Jackson's "war" on the Second Bank of the United States, which Gunning strongly supports, thus demonstrating Irish devotion to Jackson and the Democratic Party, as well as to New York banking and mercantile interests, which benefited greatly from Jackson's policies. Gunning sends the seeds to O'Hara, which he promised to send in his previous letter. He promises to send money to bring his son to America in summer.
