Wray Letters
Title
Robert Wray, Peter's Creek, Pennsylvania, to his brother, Thomas Wray (and his mother and sister), Quilleybane, Parish of Dunboe, "To the care of Mr Daniel O'Kain, Merchant", Coleraine, County Derry, 26 March 1821
Description
Robert Wray writes home with his third letter (but without reply) since he arrived in Quebec — when he had informed them of his intention to going on to join his brothers James and John. He proceeded to Montreal to Sinkingvally via New York, where he "taught School" and eventually met up with his brother James. Both then proceeded to their brother John, who wrote asking they join him "down the river". However, while delayed waiting for their luggage in Pittsburg, James decided to join an academy to study "Physick". Robert himself got work in "a very good School" and relates that John wrote again to say he got married to a sixteen-year-old young woman of Kentucky and intends to leave teaching for farming. He closes his letter by asking his mother not to grieve for his [unnamed] misfortune, saying that he is 'now liveing as comfortably as nature could desire".
