Smith/ Smyth Letters
Title
Jonathan Smyth, Philadelphia, to his father James Smyth and family, Moycraig, County Antrim, 27 August 1846
Description
Jonathan informs his family on the death of his 'beloved brother' [Robert] after a week-long illness. He reports that the burial at the Fourth Presbyterian Church was preceeded by a 'as respectable a funeral as ever marched the dead march on the streets of Philadelphia". Smyth reports intra-family contention over his brother's estate as no will was made and asks his father for power of attorney as "they are going to try to make you the nearest heir".
