Smith/ Smyth Letters
Title
Letter from Robert W. Smith, Philadelphia to James Smith Senior, Moycraig, County Antrim; in care of D. McKay, postmaster, Moss-side, County Antrim, 25 November 1842
Description
Robert W. Smith reports to his father on the death of his cousin, Mrs Thompson (nee Miss J. White Macfin) after giving birth to a son. While times were 'miserable' there, Robert assures his father he will ensure his parents will not 'want of the necessaries of life' and that he had a lot of savings earning interest 'in good hands'. However, he warned his father not to mention it in his return letters as he had enough applicants seeking some of it, from both here and Ireland and he didn't want anyone else learning of it.
