John B. Shehan, Ballylongford, Co. Kerry, to his brother, Daniel Shehan, Young Street, Toronto, Canada West, c/o Charles Thomson Esq., R(oos?)hill, Young Street, Toronto, 13 July 1846
Description
John B. Shehan thanks and consoles his brother Daniel that their father had a full life and their mother is in good health, "through this very Severe summer". Their sister Bessie has a long illness but was looking forward to bringing Mary (Daniel's daughter) out to Canada next season, but John B. warned they did not have any money to fund her passage and that she was in declining health, even as Mary had recovered fully from "swine pox". John B. was indebted for her financial help in his eductation and his future prospect of becoming a priest ["labourer in his vineyard"], including conducting a "sewing school".
