Patrick Callaghan, Alcatraz Island, California, to his father Owen O'Callaghan Senior, Fallow, Kilmacthomas, Waterford, 29 January 1885
Description
It appears that Patrick has rejoined the U.S. Army. This letter is much less positive than Patrick's earlier ones. He claims to be in good health, but reports that recently that had not been the case, and also that he had been in "a little trouble." Wishes that he had visited home and family earlier, when he was in Philadelphia, but hopes to do so soon. Is Patrick possibly a prisoner on Alcatraz Island?
