She sits in the alcove of the hearth, in the left midground, behind one of the men. He looks intently at the cards in his hands. The men sit on either side of the bench. The second is Patcheen Faherty. He wears a dark cable knit jumper, dark trousers and a bobble hat. In his left hand he holds a number of cards. In his right hand he holds up a single card, as he looks at the others. Behind them is the hearth, in an alcove. An oil lamp hangs on the wall in the left background. Part of a wheel, possibly a spinning wheel, frames the right of the photo.
