John Reilly, Newark, New Jersey, to his cousin, Patrick Reilly, Ireland, 20 June 1901
Description
Mentions Charlie's problems: he's elderly, feeble, his wife's dead, so he's "living among strangers," which is expensive, so he has almost no money to spare to send Patrick in Ireland. John Reilly sends £2 to Patrick, including £1 from Charlie. [From this and earlier letters Patrick Reilly appears to be living in Dublin city].
Title and description by Professor Kerby Miller. Professor Kerby Miller notes that: Arnold Schrier collected all five of these John Reilly letters. However, the Reillys who corresponded in 1841 [are] not related to the John and Edward Reilly who corresponded in 1895-1901; also they came from different donors. Manuscript given to Professor Kerby Miller by Professor Arnold Schrier from a private collection.
