Ernest Cochrane, The Barracks, Calgary, N.W.T., Canada, to Miss [Katie] Finlay, Willesden, [Holywood], Co. Down, 3 December 1898
Description
He relates that typhoid has struck the camp, and that many went to hospital ... 'some went out of the Barrack Gate on a Gun Carriage to "Gods acre" on the hill'. He himself has had 'a touch of it', but as no hospital accommodation was available, he was looked after in his room and has recovered.
