Description This letter is much shorter and less consequential than the others. Potts wrote that he had earned a total of $4810.63 in 1944, at $1.10 per hour, or at $1.65 at time-and-ahalf overtime per hour. He was glad that the "old homestead" was remaining in the family's hands. Wrote that his wife was ''peaved at me because she does not get all the money but she gets the big end of it but I try to pay off some old debt, I would like to get out of debt before I get too old my earning power will not always last, of course with 4 in school it takes a fortune to keep going and Robert & Grace just about pay their board they would pay more with Strangers, Grace got a $10 a month raise at the New Year that makes her $120 a month and she does not have hard to work, Jane is still at the nursing about half Thru , I will give her $35 out of the next pay to pay for 6 months Tuition." His son Edward had just written from Australia, where his submarine had docked. Hopes that the war will end soon and all the young folks will return home.
