Description
Takes pride in the fact that "our family ... has no pride or ostantation" (Jeffersonian republicanism). Eldest daughter, Eliza, has died in April 181 5. " ... your son William Expresses a wish to Come to this Country from a Letter he wrote to James (Samuel's nephew) and if he continues in the same mind I think the oppertunity favourable as James will Require a Partner who the [painting and glazing] Business I think I shall give up nearly the whole". [Samuel says that the ship will arrive in Cork to unload its cargo but his friend the captain would then proceed to Belfast "to see his relations"].
