Description Complains that he had never heard from any of his brothers or sisters, except for brother John. (What was the relationship between this estrangement and the family's internal political differences?) "I was thinking of coming home with this Vessel, but could not make it convenient. I think long to see you all for the last time, But I have given it over, until you write to me and let me know about the affairs of the place. It is not for the sake of anything that I am coming home for I expect to get nothing". He is keeping "a Dry-goods Store & is doing very well, but the business is not so brisk as it was in the War time". Invites his brother to send find linen cloth in return for "Flax-seed or any other article that would answer your Market". Has three children: the eldest, Jane, wrote most of the letter.
