William [Anthony] D'Arcy, Nevada, Colorado Territory, to Richard Lalor, Tinakill, Queen's County, 3 February 1872
Description
Interesting letter by a former employee of the Irish or British customs service, now earning a much better salary as a manager of various Colorado mining and railroad companies. D'Arcy is very content ("although we still call Ireland home"), and has moved his wife and children to join him, but the winter cold is frightful and the snow is deep. Apparently, D'Arcy's wife, Mary, is Richard Lalor's niece and the daughter of his brother, John Lalor, who also remained in Ireland.
