Kerans Whelan, Staten Island, New York, to Richard Lalor, Tinakill, Abbeyleix, Queen's County, 4 December 1860
Description
It appears that Whelan was formerly a subtenant or laborer for the Lalor family in Ireland. Reports that he has "steady work for a "gentleman" on Staten Island. Is married, has two children, and "lives happy." Sends his brother £2 (via Lalor) but does not recommend that he emigrate because US conditions were "uncertain."
