Smith/ Smyth Letters
Title
Jonathan Smyth to James Smyth, Moycraig, Moss-side, County Antrim, 11 August 1845
Description
Jonathan Smyth writes to his parents that his ship was detained due to the weather and only sailed today and reports that 'I have fallen in with the best of company: 4 girls and 3 boys from [? Surrey]. They are bound for Philadelphia. They are very kind to me and I intend to spark one of them as she is very handsome." Smyth informs that he sleeps with A. McFadden as "there are but two in every berth" and that he is full of curiousity, "I have seen more than ever I saw in my life".
