Photograph of Jean Ritchie reading an information board about the strual wells and bath houses near Downpatrick, Co Down. Jean's head, in profile faces right on the left of the board. The board is nailed to a stone wall. The information on it is clearly readable. It reads: 'Strual Wells and Bath Houses- Wells traditionally associated with Saint Patrick. "Drinking Well" on North. "Eye Well" in middle. Men's Bath House, roofed. Traditionally ascribed to Lady Betty Cromwell about 1687, but earlier date possible. Women's Bath House, roofless. Further Information can usually be supplied by the caretaker. This monument is is charge of the Ministry of Finance for Northern Ireland. Injury or Defacement is severely punishable by law.'
