The woman stands on the right, turned towards the camera. With her right hand she holds a piece of hide, her arm outstretched. She wears a button up jumper with a hole in the right sleeve. The cottage, in the back/midground, is thatched. To the right, in front of it, is a large bush. In the left midground a ladder lies against the cottages gable wall.
